MONTEC and Dope Snow partner with bluesign® for more responsible gear | Ridestore Magazine

Securing the skiing industry’s future has to be a collaborative effort – from the brands producing the gear to the resorts whisking riders up the mountain. It’s something we’re incredibly passionate about supporting. That’s why we’re screaming from the rooftops that Dope Snow and MONTEC have partnered with bluesign®.

This significant move underscores our commitment to adopting more sustainable manufacturing practices across our entire range. Want to know more about what this means for people and the planet? Let’s dive in.

What bluesign® means for Dope Snow and MONTEC

What bluesign® means for Dope Snow and MONTEC

At Dope Snow and MONTEC, we pushed towards sustainability long before bluesign® came into the picture. From using recycled polyester in our fabrics to supporting planet-positive projects and moving away from forever chemicals, our goal has always been the same: to create gear that performs while minimizing our impact on the earth. Partnering with bluesign® takes our commitment further.

Today, with bluesign®, every part of our supply and manufacturing chain is transparent and held to strict standards. This includes safer chemical use and worker welfare in the overseas factories where our gear is made. From the production floor to the chairlift, our customers are part of a chain built on protecting people and the planet. And, when riders wear Dope Snow or MONTEC, they can be confident they’re supporting better practices across the board.

Our progress so far

Becoming a bluesign® SYSTEM PARTNER means committing to a rigorous framework. And, as a result, all our Dope Snow and MONTEC jackets, pants, base layers, midlayers, gloves, and facemasks in the Fall/Winter 2025 collection are now bluesign® PRODUCTS. This means at least 90% of the fabric for our outerwear meets approval, while the fabric on our next-to-skin items, such as base layers, is 100% approved. Even components, such as trims, zippers, packaging, and accessories, must comply. So, riders can guarantee that at least 30% of our components meet the bluesign® CRITERIA.

And that’s not all. 95% of the fabrics we use are bluesign® APPROVED, going above the minimum requirements and proving our dedication to keep pushing further. The only exceptions are our beanies and socks. However, work is already underway to bring them up to the blue standard and become bluesign® PRODUCTS.

What bluesign® is and how it works

What bluesign® is and how it works

bluesign® is a sustainability certification system that dives deep into the supply chain. Instead of testing finished products, bluesign® evaluates every stage of production, from raw materials to final assembly. The system helps manufacturers swap out harmful chemicals for safer alternatives, cut resource use, and reduce waste and pollution. On top of that, the bluesign® SYSTEM ensures worker health and safety remain a priority in factories worldwide.

From the very beginning of the manufacturing process to the first turns on the mountain, bluesign® gear is the pinnacle of sustainable snowwear. For brands like ours, bluesign® acts as both a guide and a watchdog, making sure the entire process meets strict environmental and social standards – and continues to do so.

How bluesign® helps people and the planet

The benefits of bluesign® stretch far beyond the factory floor. For the planet, it means fewer harmful chemicals enter rivers, stricter pollution controls, and more innovative use of water, energy, and other resources. By making sure every step of production is more efficient and less harmful, bluesign® reduces the environmental impact of making skiwear.

For riders, bluesign® translates into gear performing at the highest level while having a much lighter ecological footprint. For factory workers, bluesign® means benefiting from safer working conditions, stricter chemical handling protocols, and improved treatment. As a result, customers can trust that the gear against their skin is free from harmful substances.

Wrapping up

bluesign® is a system placing people and the planet at the top of the priorities list. If brands take the initiative, the bluesign® SYSTEM proves that style, performance, and sustainability can all come together and work in harmony for a better industry and future.
