Dope Guide To New Zealand
Check out our quick guide to New Zealand including when to go, what to do, what to eat, where to play and finally, where to stay!
We love NZ in the last of the summer months of December to March. The days are still long, and the temperatures are not overly hot or too cold. There are way fewer tourists, meaning that the trails and beaches are quieter and you can more easily get accommodation.
Heli-hike the Franz Josef Glacier
This glacier’s so remote it’s only accessible by helicopter, but it’s totally worth the awesome ride. Take the 3-hour trek to ancient icefalls through crevasses, between walls of blue ice followed by a soak in thermal hot pools. You cannot miss this.
Traditional Māori Kai – Hangi
Hangi, which means ‘earth oven’, is a traditional New Zealand Māori method of cooking food using heated volcanic stones buried in a pit oven. Who’d have thought that food, normally potatoes, carrots, kumara and pork, cooked in a hole in the ground would taste so good!
Queenstown’s the party capital of New Zealand. Get your après-adventure groove on in the bars, clubs and music venues. It’s also the beating heart of adventure in NZ with nearby skiing, boarding, rafting, bungy, biking, hiking, paragliding and ski diving, It’s a Dope paradise!
There’s literally no better way to start the day than waking up to the sun flooding your tent as it rises over the mountains of New Zealand. Wild camping lets you get back to nature in a way that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.
